Many volunteers work silently inside and outside the stadiums in the midst of wild cheering and shouting of spectators

Choi Bogyeong (52), who came to Chungju all the way from Jincheon to volunteer, is working as a volunteer in Chungju Stadium. She said, “When I heard the news of hosting the Masterships, I volunteered to help foreign players communicate without difficulty through my 27-year experience of living in U.S

“My volunteer work for the Masterships is especially meaningful as it is my first volunteer work. I feel rejuvenated when I heard all the good comments of IMAF officers whom I met while volunteering."

Two sisters, Kim Do Yeon (Korea Tourism Senior High School, 18) and Kim Do Eun (Chungju Yeseong Girls’ Middle School, 14), are volunteering in Hoam Stadium. Kim Do Yeon said “It is my first time to volunteer as an English translator in a mega international event like the Masterships. I am so glad I could be of service to promote Chungju to many international players and help the operation of the Masterships.

Her younger sister, Kim Doeun, is a youngest volunteer. Always interested in martial arts and being a Muay Thai trainee herself, she said “Watching martial arts is so exciting and getting to know other cultures by talking to foreign players is very useful experience for me.”

Volunteers are also helping with parking management outside the gymnasiums. Volunteering in many events like National Sports Festival, National Sports Festival for the Disabled, and National Firefighter Games, Hong Eunsoo (76, male) and Um Yongseok(45, male) said “We am so glad to volunteer in a mega international event like the Masterships and to see better sense of public order than before.”Despite his old age, Mr. Hong keeps volunteering, helping underprivileged neighbors.
